Deleting the HMAC key for an External Account Binding credential will permanently the remove the HMAC key its associated External Account Binding credential from Certificate Enrollment Gateway. After the key and the External Account Binding credential are deleted, new ACMEv2 clients will no longer be able to use the key to create new ACMEv2 accounts, and existing ACMEv2 accounts associated with the credential will no longer be able to perform any ACMEv2 operations.
If you want to temporarily prevent an External Account Binding credential from being used by ACMEv2 clients, disable ACMEv2 operations for the credential instead (see Disabling ACMEv2 operations for External Account Binding credentials).
